OPhone device capable of perceiving odors
OPhone is an accessory synchronized wirelessly via Bluetooth to a mobile phone. Through a special application, the device combines various components to perceive odors sent by another user.
The project led by Le Laboratoire, a Parisian art center and specialize in this type of experiment design is performed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists and students of Harvard.
The new device is added to similar experiences in combination with an accessory that emits odors when operating in conjunction with a smartphone. The most recent was the Pop Dongle, which emits Poptopia certain flavors in a game for iOS.
Technological limitations of sense of smell in smartphones were the main challenge that manufacturers decided to demolish the OPhone, the device that wirelessly transmit smells over the Internet almost immediately.
