The announcement of the startup Superpedestrian refers to the imminent commercialization of intelligent wheel capable of transforming any ordinary bicycle into an electric. Copenhagen Wheel is a project of MIT engineers, funded by the City of Copenhagen.
The Copenhagen Wheel is designed to replace the rear wheel of any bike, turning it into an e-bike, thanks to the electric motor built into it, along with a number of sensors. The user can adjust the level of momentum through their Smartphone.
The operation of this smart wheel is based on the incorporation of an assistive device during cycling.Along with an app for smartphones, measures the force exerted by the rider pedaling in each to take action when necessary.
