Google is not satisfied with the broadband prices
According to Google, the next billion users will come from Latin America and emerging economies seeking to be more connected with the world, but one of the problems for this are the costs of broadband, especially in countries like Mexico.
Vice President Production and Engineering Google for Europe and emerging markets, Nelson Mattos, said that in the next two years the number of users are connected, mostly through mobile devices, among which the smartphone or smart phone.
As part of the sixth edition of GPS organized by the U.S. firm entitled “The next billion” reported that in Mexico 75 percent of those who have a smart phone uses to connect to the Internet, and that in the next three years this indicator will continue to rise at an accelerated pace.
Meanwhile, seven out of 10 production units are small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging countries, but only 2.0 percent have Internet presence.
However, according to the executive, one of the main problems that SMEs face, students and general users is the cost of broadband in the country, according to figures from the technology firm is doubled relative to European countries.
So, Mattos said that Google implements measures to reduce this barrier by creating free Internet access points at various locations and provide relevant content in your language.
Meanwhile, the regional director of Google Latin America, Adriana Norena, announced the launch of two projects by the technology firm focused on SMEs, which will be assisted to approach the web world and one for journalists and the development of specific content for the network.
