Many developments in the Final Ubuntu 13.10 Beta
Following the launch on September 5 Beta 1 for all distributions derived, except the main with Unity, comes this installment a few weeks before the final release, scheduled for October 17, where for the first time we have an image of Ubuntu -Unity outside the Daily Build.
Saucy Salamander, as happened with Ubuntu 13.04 “Raring Ringtail” is a consolidation release, where there is not new and polished it a remarkable distribution.
Few news, yes, but important. Big changes coming next year, with a touch interface based on Ubuntu. That is time and work ahead. Now is the time to see what brings Saucy Salamander.
The first that we will find during installation of Saucy Salamander is a new step in Ubiquity: identified in Ubuntu One with your username and password if you have, or make a new record.
As can jump this point exists, my advice is you do it. In the first virtual machine installation, Ubiquity has been hung (having introduced myself normally), having to repeat the process until there. During installation on machine fixed, I ignored the requirement, it may occur later.
Once installed distribution, another detail that you can see is the new search service Smart Scopes, a feature that was a first attempt to search on Amazon, called Shopping lens in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, which should have landed in Ubuntu 13.04 , but did not for lack of stability, and now is finally present.
Smart Scopes can be useful or a disadvantage, depending on how we use our machine and our personal preferences.
Useful if we are conducting global searches, as we write some letters in the search box of the Dash, we all kind of information on your machine or external services that connects appears.
