Private University of Nicosia Cyprus accepts Bitcoins
The idea of accepting payments for enrollment came after requests received by our students in online programs in countries where banking transactions are difficult to perform, or have very high costs, explains the financial director of the University of Nicosia, Christos Vlajos.
Last week, the University of Nicosia received his first payment in this electronic money, made by a student from South Africa, which has made the project a reality.
Despite doubts still hanging over the “bitcoin” Vlajos is convinced that this development can positively change the economy and society.
“Bitcoin can have on our lives the same effects as internet,” says Vlajos, after adding this virtual currency could lead to a major innovation in the financial systems, international payments, e-business and the development of the global economy .
“You can make payments 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The operation of bitcoin is much safer, much more practical, much faster and less expensive than other payment methods used on the Internet, “says expert
“Bitcoin” owes its recent success to the great future that the media made this currency, in addition to adoption by some digital platforms like WordPress or Baidu.
“Of course the media has influenced their success. It is argued that this is a bubble that will soon “says Vlajos, but otherwise shows this view.
