Potcoin, digital currency to the war on drugs
It all started with an evocative name, shouted into the phone of a developer to another: “Potcoin”. The Founding Fathers had to work for years to develop a constitution which give the government the power to “digital currency.”
While a good deal of skepticism about a new line of legitimate business may be justified, the extent to which marijuana dispensaries are cut effectively cut off from banking services requires them to desperate situations.
Ironically, a ballot measure that seeks to reduce violence on the illegal drug trade may be resulting in more because of this line of gray, like thieves flow in legal clinics who can be carrying a large amount of cash to hand.
A digital era requires digital solutions. Potcoin can act as a proxy for the banking system that has abandoned marijuana dispensaries. Knowing that most of its cash reserves will be digitized, thieves may be less inclined to visit dispensaries and marijuana trade safer, more prosperous and more credible will benefit both producers and consumers.
